Overall i am happy with the damper and would recommend this to anyone looking for a chimney damper. I think top sealing dampers are a great investment and energy savers and as a side benefit they preheat the stem of the chimney from the bottom to the top with warm air often allowing a much better up flow draft of the fireplace smoke. Only issue with ours is sometimes it closes all the way and sometimes it only closes about 3 4 of the way.

It is much better than the standard damper that was in my fireplace before. 3 0 out of 5 stars does enough for the job. It immediately stopped the draft through the chimney in my house.
